Nandroya Vineyard is a boutique, cool-climate vineyard at Margate, in southern Tasmania. Margate is a 20 minute drive south of Hobart (19 kilometres), in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel district. The name 'Nandroya' is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning 'a family living in harmony' - reflecting the approach that vignerons John and Joy Rees take to all aspects of the winemaking process. Established in 1995, the 1.5 hectare (four-acre) vineyard specialises in Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Small quantities of high-quality fruit are grown at the vineyard to produce fine wines made by a local winemaker. Visitors to Nandroya can sample the latest vintage while enjoying views of Mount Wellington, North West Bay and Bruny Island.
