Tasmania's Parliament House sits on the waterfront of Hobart. Originally built of the new colony's Customs House, it was converted into the houses of parliament in 1856. Obviously this building houses the House of Assembly and The Legislative Council. If you have the opportunity to be offered a tour, there is a wonderful little museum in the basement of the building with snippets of the buildings past. The main Reception Hall has been beautifully restored in recent years, and this is the the room you're most likely to attend if you visit
