Since 1846 in fact
The word ‘iconic’ is used a lot but in the case of the Cascade Hotel nothing could be truer. The pub was first licensed in 1846 and was purpose built as an Inn for the local folk of the area. In 1870 the licensee, Mr Henry Newman, grew hops on the rivulet and grazed his cattle Newman set the scene for many Publican’s to come holding a raft of community events from sports to inquests and election meetings. Under the watchful eye of Kunyanyi (formerly Mount Wellington) the Cascade Hotel maintains its presence as an important meeting place and community hub with regular local music events, book launches and get togethers. Known for our great beer, excellent food and great service we look forward to your next visit.
